Therefore, they do consider the academic performance of the foreign students who apply to their universities to study. In this course, they pay a lot of attention to the English proficiency level of the outsiders as it is extremely to know the local language to study well and live without much challenges. It is reasonable on their part if they do so as once in the UK the well-being of the international student is their government’s responsibility. A good used of the language will not suffer due to the language barrier in the UK and will be able to survive and excel.

Due to the significance of the language skills, it is made mandatory for all the foreign students to provide evidence of their English proficiency by clearing the language tests like IELTS which is the most acceptable test worldwide including the UK. It is the global language these days and non-native speakers of English also study it in their schools, so they are aware of the language. IELTS is the test meant to assess the English level of the non-native speakers of English. It tests all the important skills of English; Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening. It is really great but many of the aspirants do not prefer taking this test due to various reasons, here are some of them:

  • Time Consuming: IELTS test is a long test and takes one complete day for the Reading, Listening & the Writing test along with 1-2 hours on some other day for Speaking. As people have hectic schedules, it becomes difficult to take out so much of time to take this test.
  • Result is declared late: The Paper based IELTS test’s results are declared in 13 days’ time which is quite long time for people to wait for it, although the computer delivered test’s result is out in 3-4 days’ time.
  • Expensive: It is true that it is an expensive test, currently it costs 17K in India but this keeps on changing. Also, if someone needs to take the test again then it is too much for many people.
  • Do not feel the need: A lot of Indian students who have studied from good schools and are very good users of the language do not see the logic behind taking the test to prove their language skills, so they do not wish to go with this.
