In this blog, we will discuss that if you have any changes in the Visa during your stay in the UK, then you need to update and inform the Embassy. If you do not inform the embassy about the changes then it might take strict legal action against you. The changes such as a change of address will not affect your visa but other changes such as a change of course must be updated by the university.
Change the course:
If you want to change the course then you need to fulfill the following requirements:
- The course which you have chosen should be at the highest as compared to the previous one.
- The course length should be the same as the previous course selected by you.
- The university will approve the request for a change of course and inform to home office.
Discontinuing your studies and withdrawal from studies:
If your studies have been discontinued permanently or temporarily by Cambridge then the university needs to inform the embassy such as if a student has not submitted his thesis on deadline and temporarily discontinues from studies.
Two main changes have been made by the UK government which international students know about the following:
- Conversion of student visa into a work visa.
- Dependent Visa for the family members of international students:
In the past students who took postgraduate courses brought their dependent family members such as spouses along with them. Still, according to the new rule which is in effect from 17 July 2023, international students cannot take their dependent family members along with them although they took the postgraduate course. This has been because higher authorities in the UK have observed a significant increase in the number of dependent visas for family members. Also, many of them are not economically active in the UK. Due to this change, as students cannot bring their partner and young child along with them, they change their decision to study in the UK. There is a shortage in UK skills in some sectors of the UK such as healthcare due to international students.
Switching visa restrictions for student visa holders: Earlier international students who are on a student visa in the UK can apply to switch to sponsored work routes before completing their studies but as per new rules students cannot apply to switch to new routes until they complete their studies in the UK.
